I Am Not a Body nor The Thoughts My Mind Makes
Say this when self-compassion is low. Use it when beating yourself up for your own thoughts or actions (“I’m a failure, rejected, alone, damaged; they only see me as an addict, alcoholic, cheater, criminal, infidel, etc.”).
Remember, you are an infinite spirit, whole, divine, complete, but for now, you are in a body with a brain that operates a certain way. Many thoughts are based in fear those coming from real or perceived threats to our purpose, identity, and importance to others, as well as our longing for understanding, acceptance, approval, and love.
Magnified and shaped by our upbringing and society’s expectations, fear-based thoughts are often a hundred a minute or more! By saying, "I am not a body nor the thoughts my mind makes," you choose love (infinite spirit) over fear and self-judgment (finite mind).
You protect both from shame by affirming your true self is not them! Saying “you are not a body nor the thoughts your mind makes” prevents children from building the damaging habit of solely basing their self-worth on grades, accomplishments, “wins”, looks, popularity, and others’ approval alone!
